Situated
on the London Road, Camberley, El Pic is a Spanish Tapas Restaurant
and bar, which advertises on its website that ‘a warm welcoming
and vibrant atmosphere await you’ – ‘a little
corner of Spain in Camberley’.
Well,
I heartily agree with all of the above
My
wife and I went there one Saturday evening; we had not booked,
it was a busy night but we certainly received a warm welcome and
it was only a short while before a table was found for us.
We
didn’t have a clue about Tapas which is described by the
restaurant as follows: ‘Tapas encompasses any dish, served
in small portions to be shared amongst friends’ with a
suggestion to work on 2 to 3 tapas dishes for each person. The
menu is wide ranging with options to suit most palates; meat,
fish and seafood and vegetarian dishes are all on offer. Our meal
included an appetizer of fresh tomato and garlic on toast, which
we had at the bar with a drink while our table was prepared. Our
main tapas dishes were Salteado – strips of beef steak sautéd
with brandy, paprika and cream, Potatas a la Riojana – diced
potato
sautéd with onion, chirizo(a spicy Spanish sausage) and
tomato, Gambas Pil Pil – king prawns sizzling in olive oil,
garlic and chilli and Pollo a la Crema - Chicken breast in cream,garlic,
and tarragon. All four dishes were beautifully presented and delicious.
This was plenty for us but I wish I had ordered a salad as well.
Including
our drinks and coffee, the overall cost was just over £50
for two, although we did have the king prawn dish and the beef
dishes which are at the top end of the price range at £8.95
each. There are many other options ranging from £3.95 and
upwards. Monthly specials and Fiesta menus for parties of 4 or
more people are also offered.
El
Pic has an exciting , feel - good atmosphere. It can handle parties
of up to 40 people and has a small tasteful garden at the back
for gorgeous summer evenings and the smokers who can sit and enjoy
their cigarettes in comfort. It is quite a small place but this
adds to its
holiday like enjoyment. The main clientele seemed to be young
professionals but as middle aged folk we felt just as much at
home.
Judging
by the photos pinned to the bar, this is a place to enjoy yourself.
Certainly the other diners were having a great time. With Mother’s
Day and Valentine’s Day fast approaching this would be a
great place to celebrate.
Overall,
a great and fun evening; the staff were extremely attentive, friendly
and the food was great. Visit the restaurant’s website at

Just
wanted to add that I love coming to this restaurant, the food
is always fantastic with new dishes every month. The staff are
amazing. I have had many parties at El Pic and each has been enjoyable.

is one of my favourite restaurants. Authentically Spanish, amazing
atmosphere, and great food. We usually have a pre-dinner drink,
about five tapas between two of us, a bottle of wine and desserts,
all for less than £50. You can just have a drink or a nibble
at the bar. I’ve eaten in most of the tapas bars in London
and El Pic is the best I have ever come across.”

just to say "muchas gracias" for having us/putting up
with us! I think we were lively but well behaved!!!
I had a fab night.. really enjoyed being with my friends, something
quite liberating about fancy dress.....
